Mrs. Avdat can't help but notice that the preferred media euphemism for torture, "enhanced interrogation techniques," reminds her a lot of another media staple, ads for "male enhancement." And isn't that what the last eight years were about? A bunch of jingoistic, militaristic bozos who'd nevertheless managed to avoid combat when they were younger overcompensating in the winter of their discontent, banishing all doubts about their masculine potency?
We're watching Battlestar Galactica on Netflix DVDs (please, no spoiler comments). Last night's episode was Fragged, in which, as you may recall, Baltar shoots and kills Lt. Crashdown. "Now you're a man," intones Six.
Maybe what's wrong with the Republicans is they're having too much Cylon sex.
Battlestar Galactica Spoiler alert: Lt. Starbuck visits Earth and becomes Face on the A-Team.

So, what do you call abortion, Mark, because it's a medical procedure that tortures a baby to death? Or are you down with that because it's more fashionable to demonize Republicans?

Stushie, my name is Marvin, not Mark. If you're interested in my thoughts on abortion, you can click on the "abortion" link in the sidebar under "Categories."

What really amazes me (though I don't know why anything should anymore) is how defending torture is becoming a virtual litmus test for the GOP. That and cutting taxes are about all they've got at this point.
And who is this mysterious "Mark" and what does he have to hide?!

I admire Andrew Sullivan's blizzard of blog posts on the evils of torture, but it takes a lot of energy just for me to write one or two short posts. Blogging about why torture is wrong and why torturers ought to be prosecuted is a lot like blogging about why lynching is wrong and lynchers ought to be prosecuted. In other words, why are we even talking about this? It ought to be self evident. That such a case is no longer self-evident is extremely depressing.

Yeah, but what isn't self-evident is that everybody goes after the government for torturing terrorists and no one sees the similarity of torturing babies to death.
Watch the abortion video on www.abortionno.org and tell me if that isn't torturous to the baby?
My Apologies Marvin for calling you Mark, but no apologies for associating abortion with this issue of torture.
