Curiously, Barak Obama is thus far only mentioned as an aside to that great White People passion, The Toyota Prius.

On remembering rightly:
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ Thus you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors. You snakes, you brood of vipers! How can you escape being sentenced to hell?
Pretty good article pointing out that African-Americans don't have a monopoly on drug use, out-of-wedlock pregnancies and academic underachievement. A member of our congregation, a high school teacher, recently changed schools. He says he went from a parking lot of spinners to a parking lot of pickup trucks, but the dropout rate is the same, and the test scores are the same.
And yet economic achievement and social stability are "white values."
This means we see "white trash" as evidence of John Edwards' "two Americas," and the solution is universal health care, strong unions, and an increase in the minimum wage. And when we see the same set of dysfunctional behaviors in blacks, we see evidence of personal character flaws and a toxic culture, and the solution is for those people to "get a life."
Well, we should not doubt that unions, universal health care and an increase in the minimum wage would do a world of good for for African-Americans. Not to mention the strictest enforcement of civil rights laws.
It'd also do a world of good for white people to get off the couch, turn off Jerry Springer and, you know, get a job. Or a GED.
